What does a wedding weekend at the mill look like?

A wedding without the rush: the keys to the estate are yours from Friday morning, and we don't say goodbye until Monday. Your weekend begins on Friday morning, when we hand the whole estate over to you. That gives you the luxury of a full, unhurried day to prepare and fine-tune the details with your coordinator and suppliers. By Friday afternoon you can already welcome your closest family and settle them in. The evening becomes a gentle way to ease into the wedding day — perhaps over a simple supper or a glass of wine, sharing it with a small circle of your nearest before Saturday begins in earnest. Saturday belongs to your celebration, well into the small hours. And Sunday? Sunday is for rest. No early alarm, no packing. Just a shared breakfast and the calm of the garden. You head home rested on Monday morning.

How do I reserve the date?

We believe in a personal approach. Send us an enquiry through the form, write to us, or simply call — we reply within 24 hours, usually much sooner. We would be glad to arrange a visit: you can walk the mill with us, we will show you where the key moments happen, and together we will talk through how your own day might look. Only then do you decide whether the mill is the right place for you.

Question 3

How long can we have the mill for?

Accepted Answer

The estate is yours alone from Friday morning (8:00) until Monday midday (12:00). Why so long? Because we believe a wedding deserves more than a single, hurried day. We want you to dress the tables calmly on Friday and welcome your family, to enjoy Saturday to the full, and on Sunday — instead of packing and stress — simply to sit in the garden, have breakfast, and let it all sink in.

This weekend rhythm makes the most sense to us. But if you have a weekday wedding in mind, do get in touch — we are glad to hear your idea and try to find a way together.

Question 4

When can suppliers come to set up and decorate?

Accepted Answer

Access is normally available from Friday morning (8:00), giving you plenty of time for decoration, technical tests, and final touches. If you need earlier access or an exception, let us know in advance and we will arrange a special time.

Who will be on site throughout the event?

Accepted Answer

We are here for you. We are present at the mill throughout the weekend — we know every centimetre of the place, every cable and every detail of the technical facilities. We are your technical and moral support: we help when something stops working, advise when you are unsure, and reassure you when the unexpected happens. Working closely with your coordinator, we keep the whole wedding running smoothly. And if you like, we are happy to share with your guests too — stories from Horňácko, or the restoration of the mill that we are proud of.

At the same time, we respect your privacy. Even though we are right there at the mill, if you would rather have complete peace for yourselves and your guests, you won't see us all weekend. We are always there when you need us — and out of sight when you would rather we were.

Question 6

How much does a wedding here cost?

Accepted Answer

We pride ourselves on complete transparency. We don't want to burden you with complicated line items, hidden corkage fees, or energy surcharges. With us you know where you stand from the start. Because our concept is built around time spent together with family, we always rent the mill as a whole, accommodation included.

The exclusive weekend package (Friday – Monday), 2027 season: CZK 229,000 (approx. €9,200).

The 2026 season price was CZK 197,000 (approx. €7,900). For the 2027 season the price is CZK 229,000, unchanged for every booking within the season.

What does that mean for you? If you were to assemble the same thing from rental companies and guesthouses — accommodation, furniture, sound, energy — you would easily pay over CZK 200,000, and you would still have to organise it all yourself. We have worked it out item by item; see the breakdown higher up on this page. Everything you need is included in our price, with no hidden costs on the mill's side.

Come and take in the atmosphere. Numbers and photos tell you a lot, but the character of Kománkův mlýn is something you have to experience for yourself. Come for a coffee, walk through the garden, and take in the calm of the place. It is only when you are standing in our courtyard that you will feel whether this is the right place for your "I do". We would be glad to show you around and talk through your ideas in person.

Question 7

What is your cancellation policy?

Accepted Answer

Fair and simple. The cancellation fee depends on when you cancel:

more than 180 days before the date — a cancellation fee equal to the deposit,
180 to 90 days before the date — 75% of the rental price,
fewer than 90 days before the date — 100% of the rental price.

And here is what matters most: if we manage to rebook the released date on the same terms, we will refund every payment you have made, less only the demonstrable costs of finding a replacement, within 14 days. We always actively offer the freed-up date to other couples — your cancellation is not an opportunity for us to profit.

The exact wording of the cancellation terms is always part of the rental contract.

Question 8

Can we bring our own decorations and suppliers?

Accepted Answer

Absolutely. The mill is a blank-canvas venue — a space you shape to your own taste. Decorations, photographer, music, florist, or a dessert-bar supplier — the choice is entirely yours.

The one condition is the presence of a professional wedding coordinator. Why? Because we believe it is the coordinator who keeps your whole wedding running smoothly and makes sure you enjoy the day to the full, without stress. The coordinator watches over the schedule, aligns the work of all the suppliers, and lets you stay at the heart of the day.

If you already have a coordinator, wonderful. And if not, we are glad to recommend experienced professionals who know our mill and will help you create a flawless day.

Question 9

Why do you require a professional wedding coordinator?

Accepted Answer

Because we want you to enjoy your day to the full, without worrying about whether the DJ arrived on time or the caterer laid out enough plates. The coordinator is the person who keeps the timeline, handles the unexpected, and keeps every supplier in rhythm. If it rains, they have a backup plan ready. If someone runs late, they can improvise. That leaves you free to be at the heart of the day, to spend time with your guests, and to experience it all without stress.

Can we bring our own alcohol?

Yes, of course. Our philosophy is simple: you are renting the space, so the decisions are yours.

Can we bring a pet?

Yes, we welcome your animal friends. We only ask for considerate behaviour and that the space is kept clean.

What is the capacity of the spaces?

Accepted Answer

Every event is different — and so our spaces suit both an intimate gathering and a large occasion. The hall comfortably seats up to 106 guests, the stone courtyard can hold a table for 120, and the garden and orchard outdoors can handle celebrations of up to 500. If you want your closest people near you, the estate itself sleeps up to 30. Further accommodation is easily arranged nearby.

What is the accommodation like, and how many guests can stay at the mill?

We have 30 beds ready for you, divided into several parts, each with its own character:

The Newlyweds' Suite — a high standard, with a free-standing copper bath set in a glazed dormer looking out over the stream, and a small parlour for the bride's preparations.
The 1885 Barn — our original accommodation, where we have hosted hundreds of beautiful stories. Cosy rooms that join tradition with comfort. A fully equipped kitchen is available here too.
The 1748 mill house — a newly restored space that has kept its historic character and offers accommodation with a soul.

If that is not enough, we have several options:

accommodation in nearby guesthouses (we will help arrange shuttle transport),
glamping tents in the orchard (for example from www.stanovyhotel.cz), which add even more romance to your weekend,
the option to park caravans or an RV right in our orchard.

Thanks to these options we can provide comfortable facilities not only for the newlyweds but for their families and friends too, whatever the size of the wedding.

Question 14

What is Blekota, and what can it be used for?

Blekota is our restored barn from 1806, with an extraordinary genius loci. It is part of renting the whole estate, so it is entirely at your disposal during your weekend.

With room for around 28 people seated, it can serve as a space of its own — for an intimate dinner the night before the wedding, as a den for the groomsmen on the wedding day, or for tastings of wine, slivovitz, and whatever else you dream up.

Blekota also has a fireplace and a large cooking hearth, ideal for preparing food over the fire and for long evenings by the flames. It is a space that gives your wedding or celebration another layer of atmosphere and character.

Is the estate accessible for people with reduced mobility?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We designed the access paths, entrances, and washrooms with comfort in mind. During your visit we will show you which parts are step-free, and we are glad to advise on how to arrange the tables and seating so that every guest is comfortable.

Can we hold the ceremony on site?

Accepted Answer

Yes — and it is exactly what our couples love. Imagine not having to deal with moving from a registry office to a hall: the ceremony, the reception, and the evening celebration all happen in one place. The trees rustle around you, the stream murmurs, and the meadows of the White Carpathians form a backdrop no designer could invent.

We are ready to help you arrange a civil wedding ceremony right here on the estate. It is up to you whether you say your "I do" in the beautiful orchard or to the sound of the mill wheel.

In our village you will find the Evangelical Church of Czech Brethren congregation (cce-javornik.estranky.cz), which by arrangement allows ceremonies here as well. There are further parishes nearby, for example the Roman Catholic parish in Velká nad Veličkou (farnostvelka.cz) or the Roman Catholic parish of Blatnice pod Svatým Antonínkem (antoninek.cz).

How does catering work with you?

We want your reception to be an experience. That is why we work with trusted catering partners who take care of quality and professional service. Each has a different style — from traditional cooking to a modern tasting menu. You choose the one that best fits your vision, and we guarantee the result will be without compromise.

Question 18

Can our band or DJ play here? Are there any noise restrictions?

Accepted Answer

Of course. The estate is fully fitted with professional VOID Acoustics sound equipment covering both the hall interior and the outdoor courtyard. Musicians can connect via cable runs at designated points, or wirelessly from anywhere.

Given the acoustics of the surroundings and the nearby stream (which naturally carries low frequencies), we will ask you to ease off the heavy bass after 23:00. Our system is designed to sound excellent even in this night mode, so the party carries on without disturbing the surrounding countryside and our neighbours.

What technical equipment do the spaces have?

Accepted Answer

We have thought about this practically — so that everything you need for the event is right there on site. There is a complete professional kitchen, a large chilled room, an ice maker, tables, chairs, and modern washrooms. The finishing touch is the professional sound system in both the hall and the courtyard, from the renowned maker VOID Acoustics.

For your guests we also have quality Czech G. Benedikt porcelain, cutlery, and glasses (for soft drinks, sparkling wine, beer, wine, and spirits). And to keep service running smoothly, there is a professional dishwashing station that catering can operate with minimal staff.

We will of course fine-tune the details together with your caterer and coordinator — but you already know that this equipment will save you a significant part of both your budget and your logistics worries.

Question 20

What is the plan for bad weather (rain, wind)?

We have a backup plan ready — the covered spaces of our wedding hall and the option to change the layout, so that both the ceremony and the reception can go ahead comfortably whatever the weather. Our courtyard is paved with granite setts that soak away the water, so you can use the space comfortably right after rain, with no puddles and no discomfort. During your visit we are glad to show how this would work in practice.

Is there parking on site?

Accepted Answer

Yes, and plenty of it. Guests and suppliers alike can park easily here — we have room for 65+ vehicles. That saves you logistical complications and lets you focus fully on your day.

How is cleaning and waste handled after the event?

Accepted Answer

We always hand over the estate to you tidy, fresh, and in perfect condition — the grass mown, the spaces clean and ready with the agreed accommodation. The rental price also includes cleaning after you leave. Waste management is part of the rental too, with the exception of biowaste (which catering takes care of).

We only ask one thing of you — that you sort your waste over the weekend. Nature and sustainability truly matter to us, and we believe that if everyone takes a small step, together we will keep this place beautiful for generations to come.

Where is the mill, and how do you get here?

You will find Kománkův mlýn, a historic mill estate, at Javorník 206, Javorník nad Veličkou, 696 74. We are in South Moravia — the Hodonín district, the Slovácko region and the Horňácko micro-region — in the far south-eastern corner of the Czech Republic, the last village right on the border with Slovakia.

How to reach us:

By car — the most convenient option; parking for guests and suppliers is provided right on the estate.
By public transport + transfer — by train or bus to Veselí nad Moravou or Strážnice, then by train or bus directly to Javorník nad Veličkou, or a taxi or an arranged transfer.
An organised shuttle — for guests from abroad or for large events we recommend arranging shared transport from the airport or railway station; we are glad to advise on a suitable solution.

Approximate distances and driving times from major cities:

Brno — approx. 120 km / 1 h 30 min
Olomouc — approx. 80 km / 1 h 15 min
